Every couple planning their wedding in the UK or overseas often has some important questions for their potential wedding photographer. These questions help them get to know who they’ll be working with and also help to clarify all that is required for their wedding photography.
In this post, I’ll be answering some of such questions. These are the most frequently asked questions about my wedding photography packages and photo delivery. Every engaged couple should be asking these questions of their wedding photographer. It’s a great way to learn if they are the right person for your wedding day or not.
I’m a natural light photographer simply because I love the way natural light looks when used correctly. So I always aim for luminous, natural, relaxed, and candid photographs. This means I won’t try to stage any shots and pose you for photos, but I will slightly direct you instead.
I always look to document genuine emotions and natural in-between moments throughout the day. So I would say that 80% of the wedding day I capture candid photos, and 20% consist of directed portraits. This typically includes bridal portraits, wedding couple portraits, and family/group photographs.
When I was developing my signature editing style, analogue film photography inspired me for its unique look, colours, and contrast. I aim to bring the best of both digital technology and the timeless film look together in my photographs.
My photo editing is very consistent, so you can better visualise how you and your day could look like through my lenses. But before all of this, I make sure that all photographs are technically correct and adequately colour balanced. Healthy skin tones are important to make sure that you will always look your best in my wedding photography.
Yes, we will meet during our engagement session. I understand that you may feel shy or have no experience in front of a camera. Don’t worry; it’s my responsibility to guide you through the process and make you look your best in photos. That’s why I provide a complimentary engagement session with all my wedding photography packages.
This way, we will get to know each other in a less formal setting. You can see and experience the way I work and ask me any questions you may have. You’ll also learn how to get comfortable in front of the camera so you will feel more relaxed on your wedding day.
I offer both photo & video as one person – hybrid shooter. I’m primarily a photographer, but videos can capture emotions and energy in a way photographs don’t. That’s why I offer a short highlight film from your wedding while not sacrificing the photography quality.
Hybrid shooting is a perfect solution for intimate weddings if you don’t want to hire another professional for your wedding and feel intimidated by many cameras throughout the whole day. Learn more about hybrid coverage here.
See an example of such hybrid coverage on Louisa & Lee’s wedding in Italy.
Yes. I understand that it is an immense responsibility to photograph someone’s wedding, and there is no way to turn the time back. So, I make sure I always have backups of backups even.
I have two slots for memory cards in my camera. This allows me to make two copies of every single photo straight away on two different memory cards. In case my camera breaks or fails, I have other backup cameras and a bunch of camera lenses too.
I’m a part of several UK wedding photographer communities. This means that if anything happens and I physically can’t attend a wedding, I will get in touch with another trusted and experienced wedding photographer.
They’ll cover me on your wedding day. Don’t worry; after that, I would still edit your photos to my personal signature look and deliver the images to you.
I state in my contract that the photo delivery takes between 1-2 months. However, I usually tend to deliver my photos sooner (less than one month) because my clients are my priority, and they deserve to receive their photos fast.
You will receive your photographs through a beautiful private online gallery. This gallery allows you to view the photos, share them on social media and download them. You can always access this gallery through my website in the Clients section and easily share it with your friends and family.
No, you won’t because it simply wouldn’t be possible. I will deliver all photos which pass the quality control without any repetitive photographs. Typically, I take 3,000 to 5,000 photos of a full-day wedding to get the exact perfect moment.
The following photo selection is a huge part of my process. Only this way can I create a unique and visually interesting collection of photos that tell your beautiful wedding day story.
In the end, I deliver between 500 to 650 photographs from a typical full-day coverage. Please know that these numbers are only estimates, and the number of final photos depends on the particular wedding.
For example, if there is travel involved between venues (wedding ceremony and wedding reception, etc.), it will affect the number of photographs I can capture.
All photos which I deliver to my clients are edited with my signature style, including skin retouch and colour balancing. If you are interested, I can send you a preview of some before and after images, but these photos are not for public use.
The reason is that the unedited images are technically incorrect and far from beautiful. Secondly, they are photographed as RAW files. Unless you have Photoshop (or other software for raw file image manipulation), you most likely wouldn’t even be able to preview the photos on your computer.
Yes, absolutely! I write about recent weddings and other events I have photographed. You can find them in my journal. If you would like to see any particular full wedding gallery, please let me know, and I will be happy to send you a gallery link.
Yes, I do have a written contract. If you have interest in reviewing it, please get in touch, and I will be happy to send you a draft.
I require 40% of your selected photography package as a retainer to secure your wedding date. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the wedding day.
I will reserve the time and will not make other reservations for that time and date. For this reason, the reservation deposit is non-refundable, even if the wedding is cancelled for any reason. However, you can transfer it to a different date if your wedding is postponed.
No, I don’t charge any additional or hidden fees except for travel cost, which is dependent on the wedding location and distance I have to travel. If it’s not possible for me to travel to the wedding and back on the same day due to a long distance, I may add accommodation costs too. However, I will always discuss with you all charges upfront before booking.
No. I don’t watermark my clients’ images. For this reason, photo credit on posts is always very much appreciated.
Veronika Joy Photography & Film owns the complete copyright, and all photographs and videos are protected by Copyright Law. I transfer a part of the copyrights to my clients for their personal use. In practice, this means that you can do almost anything with the images (share and print), but you can’t use them for any commercial purposes and sell the photos or videos for profit.
Yes, absolutely! I understand that life happens, and there might be circumstances beyond our control when you may need to postpone your wedding day. With me, you can book with peace of mind knowing that you can reschedule your date for no extra cost. You just need to check my availability before rescheduling your wedding date.
